Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Junji, the Midnight Sky as a self-contained reanimation and attrition engine from the command zone. Supported by cheap single-mana recursion spells such as Feign Death, Undying Malice, and Supernatural Stamina, the strategy revolves around sacrificing Junji to repeatedly cheat high-impact non-Dragon creatures into play or strip opponents' resources. High-devotion payoffs like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and aristocratic drains from Ayara, First of Locthwain and Syr Konrad, the Grim serve as primary win conditions. Acceleration from Heartless Summoning, Warren Soultrader, and Soldevi Adnate smooths deployment of high-cost permanents. While exceptionally resilient against destroy-based removal thanks to its recursive suite, the deck is constrained by a vulnerability to rest-in-peace style graveyard exile and an inability to interact cleanly with opposing noncreature combos or spells on the stack.
