Deck overview

This deck is a Temur mutate midrange strategy built around Illuna, Apex of Wishes. Its game plan centers on ramping quickly in the early turns, establishing a resilient non-Human creature host (ideally with built-in hexproof like Gladecover Scout or Hit-Monkey), and mutating Illuna onto it by Turn 5. Each mutate trigger cheats powerful nonland permanents directly onto the battlefield, creating compounding board presence. The deck scales by stacking additional mutate creatures such as Auspicious Starrix, Archipelagore, and Dreamtail Heron to draw cards, ramp additional lands, and tap down opposing defenses. Without infinite combos, victory is achieved through overwhelming combat damage with large, evasive creature piles across Turns 6 through 8. While the deck boasts high card velocity and resilient hexproof mutate stacks, putting multiple cards into a single permanent makes it susceptible to mass board wipes, requiring careful resource management and timely protection spells.
