Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is centered around Smaug the Impenetrable, leveraging his 8/7 flying, indestructible, and haste statline alongside his ability to generate a Treasure token for each point of noncombat damage dealt to him. The game plan focuses on ramping during the early turns with Dwarves and mana rocks, deploying artifact pingers like Mirkwood Bats, Reckless Fireweaver, and Ingenious Artillerist, and then casting Smaug on Turn 5 or 6. Once Smaug is active, symmetrical damage sweepers such as Blasphemous Act, Chain Reaction, or repeatable damage from Pyrohemia deal massive noncombat damage to Smaug without destroying him. This floods the battlefield with dozens of Treasure tokens, triggering massive drain triggers that decimate opponent life totals in a single turn. Backup plans include alternate high-threat dragons like Cavern-Hoard Dragon and an alternate win condition via Revel in Riches.
