Deck overview

This Abzan deck utilizes a combat strategy focused on toughness, led by Felothar the Steadfast. The primary plan deploys low-cost defender creatures and mana dorks in the early turns, casting Felothar on Turn 4 to convert high toughness values into combat damage while allowing defenders to attack freely. Felothar also provides a reliable card draw engine by sacrificing zero-power defenders to refill the hand with multiple cards. By Turn 6, the deck lands massive high-toughness threats such as Unhallowed Phalanx, Tree of Perdition, or Baldin, Century Herdmaster to swing for lethal combat damage. Evasion from Behind the Scenes and Suspicious Bookcase ensures damage bypasses opposing blockers, while asymmetric board wipes like Wave of Reckoning clear opposing boards without harming low-power defenders. Redundant pieces like Assault Formation and Bedrock Tortoise ensure the deck functions smoothly even if the commander is removed.
