Commander: T'Challa, the Black Panther

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Selesnya list is a midrange Wakanda value deck that hides two classic token loops in the 99. T'Challa, the Black Panther is a cheap, recastable 2/2 who drips indestructible Vibranium rocks and grows whenever a four-plus-mana artifact is cast, but he is not a combo piece and the deck does not stall without him. The real finishers are Earthcraft plus Squirrel Nest (infinite Squirrels off a basic land) and Siona, Captain of the Pyleas plus Shielded by Faith (infinite 1/1 Soldiers). Either army then swings, often with Overwhelming Stampede or Bast, Panther Goddess as a force multiplier. A dense suite of four-mana artifacts, Equipment such as Hammer of Nazahn and Helm of the Host, and a monarch package (Okoye, Mighty and Adored, Queen Mother Ramonda, The Spear of Bashenga) give the deck a perfectly functional combat-and-value backup when the loops do not come together. Expect a grinding midgame that suddenly presents lethal once a two-card lock is assembled or the board is stampeded.
