Deck overview

Smaug, Wicked Worm leads a high-velocity Rakdos deck centered on Treasure production, Dragon beatdown, and explosive artifact-based burn. The deck capitalizes on opponents' artifact counts to generate immediate Treasure hoards upon Smaug's arrival, turning each spent Treasure into card draw to chain through the library. Dense ramp and Treasure synergies deploy the commander on Turn 4, quickly assembling must-answer damage engines like Ingenious Artillerist, Reckless Fireweaver, and Mirkwood Bats. These burn engines punish opponents every time a Treasure enters or leaves the battlefield, while heavyweight threats such as Cavern-Hoard Dragon, Goldspan Dragon, and Ancient Copper Dragon apply overwhelming evasive pressure. Protection spells like Deflecting Swat and Bolt Bend safeguard key pieces against single-target removal, and flexible sweepers clear opposing boards. Without relying on dedicated two-card infinite combos, the deck achieves decisive table finishes on Turn 6 by converting massive mana generation into compounding burn triggers and combat steps.
