sultai x spells (zaxara, the exemplary) by seBsta

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Zaxara, the Exemplary leads a Sultai X-spell tribal deck. The primary plan is to ramp into Zaxara, then convert every {X} spell into a huge Hydra token and/or a game-ending effect. Unbound Flourishing doubles the value of X and copies X instants and sorceries; Branching Evolution, Corpsejack Menace, and Hardened Scales multiply counters. Secondary paths include combat with trampling/hasty Hydras, Walking Ballista as a counter outlet, and Exsanguinate/Villainous Wealth as mass finishers. Selvala and Nexos supply the mana needed for large X. Zaxara is the engine, but Gargos and the Hydra shell let the deck work without him; no double-faced commander or hidden commander is involved.
