Deck overview

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride leads a high-velocity Golgari landfall and stompy deck designed to convert undercosted, high-power creatures into overwhelming card advantage and mana acceleration. By utilizing efficient, over-statted beaters like Lupine Prototype, Pugnacious Hammerskull, and Daemogoth Woe-Eater, the deck consistently saddles Gitrog on Turn 4. Connecting with Gitrog's trample damage triggers a massive burst that draws 5 to 7 cards and cheats an equivalent number of lands directly onto the battlefield. This explosive influx of resources fuels explosive landfall engines like Field of the Dead, Scute Swarm, and Avenger of Zendikar, while ramping toward catastrophic finishers including Yargle and Multani, Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, and massive Exsanguinate casts. Supported by efficient green protection spells, flexible black removal, and resilient recovery options, the deck rapidly transitions from early engine setup to a lethal multi-opponent finish on Turn 6.
