Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Spellslinger and Theft strategy piloted by Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge. The core strategy revolves around ramping into Jeleva, exiling cards from all libraries upon entry, and attacking to cast devastating high-mana instants and sorceries without paying their mana costs. Haymakers like Army of the Damned, In Garruk's Wake, Blatant Thievery, and Cruel Ultimatum swing games dramatically by wiping opposing boards, generating massive token armies, or stealing key permanents. Supplemental theft engines such as Etali, Primal Storm and Gríma, Saruman's Footman maintain pressure if Jeleva is constrained, while Passionate Archaeologist converts spells cast from exile into heavy direct damage. The deck thrives in mid-power tables where it can assemble its mana and leverage opponents' libraries, but it faces vulnerability to early aggression, counterplay targeting its fragile 1/3 commander, and tempo loss from a high proportion of tapped lands.
