Deck overview

This deck is a classic Golgari aristocrats and reanimator build led by Meren of Clan Nel Toth. Its primary game plan is to accelerate mana in the early turns, fill the graveyard with high-utility creatures, and deploy Meren to establish an oppressive loop of sacrifice and recursion. By repeatedly recurring edict creatures like Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder, the deck systematically dismantles opposing creature boards while accumulating experience counters and card advantage through draw engines like Grim Haruspex and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. The deck breaks parity through asymmetric stax pieces like Grave Pact and Tergrid, God of Fright, effectively locking creature-based opponents out of the game. Once dominant board control is established, the deck closes the game through cumulative life drain from Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Syr Konrad, the Grim, burst damage from Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord, or the infinite combo of Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond.
