Deck overview

Matoc, Lavamancer is a single-faced commander who turns exact two-damage pings into free cards from the top of the library. The primary plan is a spell-slinging burn/value engine: damage triggers from Matoc and pingers like Guttersnipe and Fiery Inscription exile spells, while rituals, wheels, and flashback effects enable multi-spell turns. The deck's secondary path is combat from haste threats such as Laelia, the Blade Reforged and Bonehoard Dracosaur, plus explosive recursion turns via Past in Flames or Mizzix's Mastery. There is no true hidden commander, although Laelia is the closest honorary engine. There is no deterministic infinite combo, so most wins come from repeated table pings and casting many spells from exile.
