Deck overview

Captain Howler, Sea Scourge leads an aggressive Izzet tempo deck centered on discard synergies and combat pressure. The deck leverages cheap looting spells to turn card filtering into lethal combat buffs and card draw via Howler's triggered ability. Complementary discard engines like Brallin, Skyshark Rider, Glint-Horn Buccaneer, and Inti, Seneschal of the Sun convert cards pitched into graveyard fuel, direct damage, and impulse card advantage. While the deck features an incidental infinite combo with Glint-Horn Buccaneer and Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator, its primary route to victory is commanding the red zone with high-power evasive threats, mass pump from Shared Animosity, and explosive hand-refill wheels like Windfall. Because the deck lacks dense fast mana and broad tutoring, it operates at a solid mid-power pace, relying on ward protection, redirection spells, and Treasure production to sustain tempo against interactive tables.
