Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain, card draw, and drain deck led by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. The primary game plan revolves around deploying cheap lifegain triggers like Soul Warden, Auriok Champion, and Suture Priest in the early turns, then casting the commander on Turn 5 to turn every instance of lifegain into raw card advantage. On Turn 6, the deck converts this card surplus into rapid table-wide life loss through payoffs like Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, and Psychosis Crawler. The deck also includes the compact infinite combo of Exquisite Blood and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose to close the game on the spot. Robust defensive tools such as Teferi's Protection and Clever Concealment protect the board, while premium removal like Swords to Plowshares and Toxic Deluge keeps opposing threats in check.
