Deck overview

This is a classic Azorius stax/tax control deck built around Grand Arbiter Augustin IV (GAAIV). The primary game plan is to deploy a dense web of tax and stax effects that dramatically slow opponents while GAAIV reduces the cost of your own spells. The deck then wins through one of its few resilient finishers: the repeated casting of Approach of the Second Sun, the un-counterable flying beater Absolute Virtue, or beatdown from Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite and Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant. The strategy is purely reactive and tempo-oriented: establish a lock, protect it with counterspells, and eventually land a game-ending threat that opponents cannot answer through the tax prison.
