Deck overview

This deck is an Esper tempo deck built around the shadow mechanic and creature copying effects. Its primary plan is to deploy cheap, unblockable shadow creatures such as Soltari Foot Soldier, Dauthi Horror, and Dauthi Voidwalker in the early turns, establishing continuous combat damage that bypasses opposing blockers. In the midgame, the deck seeks to augment this evasive pressure with stat boosts from Soltari Champion, life drain from Ayara, First of Locthwain and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or clone spells like Polymorphous Rush and Saheeli's Artistry. Its commander, Nevinyrral, Urborg Tyrant, acts as a high-cost sweeper and deterrent rather than an essential engine piece. However, the deck is constrained by a low land count of 30 lands, minimal ramp, and an absence of standard counterspells and efficient removal. This creates a slow overall clock that requires numerous combat steps to defeat three opponents.
