Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black Aristocrats Midrange strategy commanded by Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER // Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel, focusing on creature attrition, life drain, and combat pressure. The game plan centers on deploying early sacrifice fodder, casting Sephiroth on Turn 3, and leveraging his attack trigger to draw cards and drain opponents. By deploying dense single-target removal and edict effects such as Gaius van Baelsar, the deck engineers a single turn with four creature deaths to transform Sephiroth into his One-Winged Angel form, obtaining the permanent Super Nova emblem. Once transformed, the deck applies compounding drain triggers whenever any creature dies, amplified by The Masamune and Al Bhed Salvagers. While the list excels at dismantling creature-heavy boards, its low land count, thin ramp suite, and lack of stack interaction leave it susceptible to fast non-creature combos and sweepers. It reliably closes games around Turn 9 through relentless aerial aggression and non-combat drain.
