Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-red treasure-matters deck helmed by Smaug the Magnificent, a hasty dragon that turns your treasure hoard into direct damage. The primary game plan is to generate an overwhelming number of Treasure tokens through a dense suite of token producers (Goldspan Dragon, Professional Face-Breaker, Xorn, Academy Manufactor), then leverage that mana and damage to close out the game. Win conditions include Hellkite Tyrant's "twenty artifacts" alternate win, Knuckles the Echidna's "thirty artifacts" trigger, and chaining extra combat steps (Scourge of the Throne, Great Train Heist) to repeatedly fire Smaug's attack trigger at opponents. The deck also packs a handful of board wipes and artifact removal, but relies almost entirely on its treasure engine for card advantage and mana acceleration.
