Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck leverages Lady Octopus, Inspired Inventor as an early value and cost-cheating commander to deploy powerful artifact engines ahead of curve. The primary win condition is the classic two-card combo of Painter's Servant and Grindstone, which turns all cards in all zones blue and repeatedly mills an entire library in a single activation. The deck controls the pace of the table using asymmetric stax pieces such as Winter Moon, Winter Orb, Harbinger of the Seas, and Tangle Wire, breaking parity through basic Islands and the commander's ability to cast artifacts for free. A deep selection suite featuring Fabricate, Tribute Mage, Urza's Saga, and Whir of Invention ensures rapid assembly, while a premier suite of cheap and free countermagic protects the setup. Alternate win lines utilize Urza, Lord High Artificer, Kappa Cannoneer, and Retrofitter Foundry to close games via combat.
