Deck overview

This deck is a five-color spellslinger combo deck helmed by Codie, Ravenous Codex, built around the 'Prepare' mechanic. By playing creatures that enter the battlefield prepared, the deck casts powerful instant and sorcery copies, which Codie, Ravenous Codex automatically doubles. Accelerating through early five-color fixing and dorks like Bloom Tender, the deck establishes an operating engine on Turn 4 by casting doubled card draw such as Emeritus of Ideation // Ancestral Recall or tutors like Emeritus of Woe // Demonic Tutor. Critical onset occurs on Turn 5, where the deck transitions into a lethal win through Displacer Kitten and Blazing Firesinger // Seething Song for infinite red mana and full library access, or via Professor Onyx Magecraft drain. Supporting protection from counterspells and Heroic Intervention helps defend critical turns. While vulnerable to early creature removal and stax, the deck's explosive velocity and redundant card draw allow it to reliably close games on Turn 5.
