Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck uses Katara, Waterbending Master to turn reactive interaction into massive card advantage. By casting counterspells, cantrips, and flash creatures during opponents' turns, you steadily accumulate experience counters on Katara. When Katara attacks, she converts these counters into extensive card draw, keeping your hand full of answers. Evasion tools like Aqueous Form and Access Tunnel ensure Katara attacks safely without dying in combat. While the deck lacks fast mana rocks and universal tutors, its high land count and low mana curve ensure smooth, on-curve deployment. In the late game, control the board with mass bounce spells like River's Rebuke and lock out opponent instant interaction with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. Win by drawing through the entire library with Laboratory Maniac on the battlefield or attacking with large flash threats like Torrential Gearhulk and Brineborn Cutthroat.
