Deck overview

This Sauron, the Dark Lord deck operates as a high-power Grixis midrange and aristocrats strategy. It accelerates rapidly on Turns 1 and 2 using premium fast mana like Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Dark Ritual, and Chrome Mox to deploy Sauron by Turn 3. Sauron passively amasses a massive Orc Army whenever opponents cast spells. On Turn 4, the Army connects in combat, triggering the Ring tempts you mechanic to discard a depleted hand and draw four fresh cards. The deck converts this massive card advantage and creature token generation into game-winning pressure through drain engines like Blood Artist, Ayara, and Warren Soultrader with Gravecrawler, or game-ending spells like Bolas's Citadel and Torment of Hailfire. An elite suite of free interaction and asymmetric hate pieces, including Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, Opposition Agent, and Notion Thief, keeps opponents suppressed while shielding the primary game plan.
