Deck overview

This deck is a specialized Azorius control and big-mana spellslinger strategy commanded by Elminster. The primary game plan uses low-cost scry spells and cantrips like Brainstorm, Preordain, and Foresee to stack high-mana-value sorceries on top of the library. Once Elminster enters on Turn 5, it generates continuous card advantage with its +2 ability and converts 8-to-10-mana cards like Storm Herd, Expropriate, and Mnemonic Deluge into large swarms of flying Faerie Dragons using its -3 ability. Alternatively, Elminster massively discounts these high-cost spells following large scry actions. The flying army quickly closes the game through anthem effects such as Coat of Arms and Gravitational Shift, or chains extra turns via Time Warp and Alrund's Epiphany. Robust countermagic, efficient exile removal, and formidable defensive walls protect the planeswalker commander while it builds decisive board presence.
