Deck overview

This Azorius control deck uses Niko, Light of Hope to convert enter-the-battlefield triggers into Shard enchantment tokens, then flickers Niko repeatedly to build a large token army. By turning Shards into copies of utility creatures, the deck scales up lifegain triggers from cards like Soul Warden and Auriok Champion or ping effects from creatures like Prodigal Sorcerer. The primary path to victory leverages high life totals through alternate win cards such as Felidar Sovereign and Test of Endurance, backed by a deep suite of reactive counterspells to deny opposing threats. While the deck boasts strong resilience and card flow through Shard cycling, it operates without tutors and possesses limited targeted creature removal once threats resolve on board.
