Deck overview

Y'shtola, Night's Blessed leads an Esper control-drain deck that converts noncreature spells into life loss and card advantage. The main plan is to keep Y'shtola on the battlefield, back her with counters and flexible removal, and multiply her drain with the hidden commander Delney, Streetwise Lookout. Delney doubles Y'shtola's triggers and the wizard tokens created by Circle of Power and Transpose. Papalymo Totolymo and Professor Onyx add more drain, while Smothering Tithe and Black Market Connections supply extra mana. The deck usually wins through accumulated drain triggers into a large Exsanguinate, or by using Bolas's Citadel as a top-deck engine and ten-permanent sacrifice nuke. It has no true infinite combo and is slower than a dedicated combo or aggro deck.
