Format: Commander

Commander: Liliana, Heretical Healer // Liliana, Defiant Necromancer

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This mono-black deck plays a discard-and-Zombie attrition game. Liliana, Heretical Healer starts as a lifelink body, but the deck is built to transform her into Liliana, Defiant Necromancer and use the back face's +2 discard and -X reanimation. Sacrifice outlets such as Sidisi and Braids intentionally kill nontoken creatures to force the flip, while Waste Not and discard-damage enchantments turn every stripped card into mana, Zombies, and life loss. There is no single hidden non-commander card; the hidden commander is effectively the Liliana planeswalker suite, which provides recursion, removal, and emblems. Wins usually come from Gray Merchant devotion drains, discard drain triggers, and a wide Zombie attack backed by anthems.
