Deck overview

This deck is a five-color midrange strategy built around Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact and permanents that are exactly two colors. It incorporates the complete cycle of Shadowmoor Lieges, hybrid-mana auras, and a heavy Gate land package. The primary game plan focuses on establishing stable mana fixing through artifacts and Gates, resolving the commander, and leveraging combat triggers to draw cards, burn targets, and gain life. While Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact provides strong card draw upon connecting in combat, the deck suffers from severe tempo friction due to a low land count and numerous tapped Gates. The absence of instant-speed removal leaves it poorly equipped to interact with faster combo or engine decks, forcing it to rely on incremental combat damage across multiple turn rotations to close out the table.
