Deck overview

The deck is primarily a five-color combo deck. Its cleanest win uses Witherbloom Apprentice and Chain of Smog. The Apprentice turns every cast or copy of the discard spell into one life loss for each opponent, while Chain of Smog can copy itself repeatedly when you target yourself. Tutors cover both roles, and the list has unusually strong acceleration and interaction for a singleton deck. The main plan is therefore capable of a turn-5 ordinary kill, with faster outcomes possible from exceptional hands. The deck also contains a graveyard route involving Hermit Druid, Doctor Doom, Unrivaled, Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, and Dread Return, but that route needs too many specific pieces to match the primary plan. The six-mana Thanos, the Mad Titan is a utility commander and board-control option rather than the central win engine. Protection is good, but creature removal before the combo turn remains a meaningful weakness.
