Deck overview

This is a mono-black midrange drain deck built around Maha, Its Feathers Night. Maha's static ability sets every opposing creature's base toughness to 1, turning every point of damage, wither counter, or -1/-1 effect into a potential board wipe. The deck layers mass toughness reduction (Massacre Wurm, Kaervek, the Spiteful, Night of Souls' Betrayal, Pestilence, Withering Wisps), death-trigger drain (Vein Ripper, The Meathook Massacre, Syr Konrad, the Grim, Bloodletter of Aclazotz), and classic mono-black finishers (Exsanguinate, Torment of Hailfire, Gray Merchant of Asphodel). A compact two-card combo in Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank provides an alternate infinite drain/mill line. Big mana from Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, Crypt Ghast, and Nirkana Revenant fuels the X-spells, while Necropotence and efficient card selection keep the hand full. The deck wins by clearing the board under Maha and draining the table, or by resolving a lethal X-spell.
