Deck overview

This mono-black deck blends opponent card-theft mechanics with a compact combo finish and big-mana control elements. Headed by Black Cat, Cunning Thief, the commander digs nine cards deep to exile and cast key spells from opposing libraries, creating consistent card advantage without exhausting hand resources. The deck leverages efficient mana acceleration like Sol Ring, Dark Ritual, and Jet Medallion alongside the classic Cabal Coffers and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth engine. While stealing opposing threats and controlling the board with premium spot removal like Deadly Rollick and Dismember, the deck works toward assembling its primary win condition: Professor Onyx combined with Chain of Smog. This combo drains the entire table in a single turn through repeated Magecraft triggers. If interrupted, the deck seamlessly transitions into big-mana drain payoffs using Exsanguinate or recurring Gray Merchant of Asphodel.
