Deck overview

This deck is a Spellslinger Voltron and Burn strategy commanded by Melek, Reforged Researcher. The primary game plan revolves around rapidly filling the graveyard with instant and sorcery cards through efficient cantrips, looting, and explosive self-mill spells like Traumatize and Cut Your Losses. Because Melek's power and toughness equal twice the number of spells in the graveyard, milling 15 to 20 spells transforms the commander into a colossal 30/30 to 40/40 creature. Melek's static cost-reduction ability discounts the first instant or sorcery cast each turn by {3}, allowing the deck to deploy hefty counterspells and draw spells on opponents' turns for minimal mana. The deck closes games swiftly on Turns 6 and 7 by granting Melek unblockability with Artful Dodge or Enter the Enigma, combining direct combat eliminations with massive power-based burn from Gravitic Punch, Soul's Fire, and Chandra's Ignition.
