Deck overview

This Mardu deck utilizes Zurgo Stormrender at the helm of an aggressive token swarm and aristocrats strategy. The game plan focuses on deploying efficient, low-cost creatures and attack-triggered token generators like Adeline, Resplendent Cathar and Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon. As these tokens attack and subsequently leave the battlefield through combat trades, end-step sacrifice triggers, or dedicated sac outlets, Zurgo converts them into continuous card draw and life drain. The deck amplifies its wide boards on Turn 5 using decisive force multipliers such as Shared Animosity, Cathars' Crusade, and Commissar Severina Raine. A robust defensive suite featuring Clever Concealment, Flawless Maneuver, and Teferi's Protection ensures that sweepers and spot removal do not stall the engine, allowing the deck to close out the game through overwhelming combat damage and unavoidable burn triggers.
