Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan +1/+1 counters and aristocrats engine helmed by Ghave, Guru of Spores. The strategy revolves around leveraging Ghave's modular activated abilities to convert counters into creature tokens and sacrifice creatures to replenish or grow counters on key threats. By integrating counter enhancers like Hardened Scales, Conclave Mentor, and Corpsejack Menace, the deck generates immense board presence and mana efficiency. It capitalizes on aristocrat drain pieces such as Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Mirkwood Bats to burn down opponents during mass token transitions, or swings with unblockable, massive swarms via Champion of Lambholt and Cathars' Crusade. The list includes compact infinite synergies such as Basking Broodscale paired with Cathars' Crusade or Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, enabling infinite mana and power. Supported by flexible removal like Assassin's Trophy and Anguished Unmaking, the deck maintains steady board control while executing its compounding midrange-to-combo game plan.
