Deck overview

This is a Rakdos group slug deck helmed by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The deck punishes opponents for every normal game action-playing lands, casting spells, drawing cards-through symmetrical damaging effects like Manabarbs, Sulfuric Vortex, and Spellshock. Valgavoth acts as a relentless draw engine, turning each opponent's first life loss per turn into a card and a +1/+1 counter. The deck has a potent infinite combo with Exquisite Blood and Bloodthirsty Conqueror, but lacks tutors to find it consistently. Primary win conditions include a massive Exsanguinate, Chandra's Ignition on a large Valgavoth, or simply grinding opponents down with incremental damage amplified by Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might and Solphim, Mayhem Dominus. Life gain prevention from Forsaken Wastes, Sulfuric Vortex, and Sunspine Lynx ensures opponents cannot recover. The deck is resilient to board wipes due to its enchantment-based damage sources, but is vulnerable to enchantment removal and commander hate.
