Deck overview

Hazel of the Rootbloom commands a Golgari token swarm and aristocrats strategy centered on Squirrel synergies. The deck focuses on developing early mana dorks, artifact ramp, and token generators during the first three turns to prepare for Hazel's arrival on Turn 4. Once deployed, Hazel duplicates Squirrel tokens every end step and converts the widening board into explosive mana by tapping tokens. By Turn 6, this surplus mana fuels decisive finishers, including massive overruns like Beastmaster Ascension and End-Raze Forerunners, or wide life-draining engines featuring Valley Rotcaller, Bastion of Remembrance, and Nadier's Nightblade. The deck maintains steady card flow using Skullclamp and Toski, Bearer of Secrets, while Chatterfang, Squirrel General provides board control. Solid redundancy and resilient recovery options allow the deck to rebuild quickly after disruption and close out games through overwhelming board presence.
