Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan Aristocrats and +1/+1 counters combo deck led by Ghave, Guru of Spores. The strategy revolves around assembling interlocking engine pieces that manipulate creature tokens and counters. Ghave acts as both a token generator and a sacrifice outlet, turning mana and +1/+1 counters into expendable Saprolings. When paired with counter amplifiers like Hardened Scales or Cathars' Crusade and mana converters like Utopia Mycon or Cryptic Trilobite, Ghave creates repeatable or infinite loops. Drain payoffs such as Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim, and Mirkwood Bats convert these loops into instant lethal damage against all opponents. If combo lines are disrupted, the deck pivots smoothly into go-wide token beatdown powered by Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, and Tendershoot Dryad. While the deck excels at compounding board presence and resilient recursion, it runs very light interaction and relies on natural draws to find key mana converters.
