Deck overview

The deck is a Bant counters-and-proliferate midrange strategy led by Kros, Defense Contractor. Its ordinary plan is to ramp, cast Kros, Defense Contractor, and pair the commander with Generous Patron or another counter engine. Each upkeep can place a shield counter on an opposing creature, draw through Generous Patron, tap and goad that creature, and gradually build a board with Brokers Ascendancy, Evolutionary Escalation, Court of Garenbrig, and proliferate effects. Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, Nils, Discipline Enforcer, and Orzhov Advokist help redirect or tax attacks. The deck has respectable removal and some protection, but limited tutoring and no compact win condition. Its board can become strong if left alone, yet it needs several combat steps to defeat three opponents and is vulnerable to sweepers and commander removal. Its primary value assembly is around turn 6, while a genuinely must-answer board usually appears around turn 8 or later.
