Deck overview

This mono-black Commander deck is a dedicated Zombie tribal and aristocrats swarm strategy helmed by Ghoulcaller Gisa. The deck focuses on assembling a resilient board of synergistic Zombie creatures, utilizing early drops like Cryptbreaker, Gravecrawler, and Undead Augur to establish card advantage and board presence. Once Gisa enters the battlefield, she converts tall creatures or recurring bodies into vast armies of 2/2 Zombie tokens. These tokens are bolstered by anthem lords such as Undead Warchief, Death Baron, and Cemetery Reaper, or converted into direct life drain through Vengeful Dead, Ayara, First of Locthwain, and Syr Konrad, the Grim. The deck features powerful asymmetric creature wipes in Noxious Ghoul and resilient recursion engines with Lord of the Undead and Zul Ashur, Lich Lord. While highly resilient against attrition and combat-focused decks, its reliance on creature permanents and sparse stack interaction makes it vulnerable to well-timed board sweepers and noncreature combo decks.
