Deck overview

Gandalf the Grey leads an interactive Izzet spellslinger deck that converts cheap instants and sorceries into table-wide burn. The deck functions through deep functional redundancy, pairing cost reducers such as Baral, Chief of Compliance and Stormcatch Mentor with damage engines like Guttersnipe, Fiery Inscription, and Erebor Flamesmith. Gandalf the Grey bolsters this plan from the command zone by copying spells, generating mana tempo, and dealing direct burn. While the deck contains immense spell velocity, its ordinary execution relies on compounding noncombat damage, amplified by Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and Tomik, Izzet Sparkmage. A robust suite of efficient stack interaction and creature removal keeps opposing threats in check during early setup. The deck lacks dedicated tutors, relying instead on high-velocity cantrips to churn through the library and close games on Turn 6.
