Deck overview

This Rakdos deck centers on Ozai, the Phoenix King, turning aggressive combat triggers and ritual mana into a permanent bank of unspent red mana. By preventing unspent mana from emptying as phases end, Ozai quickly reaches the six-mana threshold required to gain permanent flying and indestructible. The deck accelerates into its 6-mana commander on Turn 5 using fast rituals like Dark Ritual and Seething Song. Once assembled, it leverages massive mana stores to chain extra combat steps through Aggravated Assault, Hellkite Charger, and Combat Celebrant, or to cast devastating dragons like Avatar Roku, Firebender and Inferno of the Star Mounts. While it lacks unconditional tutors and counterspell protection, its high density of interchangeable firebending attackers, resilient beaters, and explosive mana generation provides a relentless mid-game clock capable of closing out games by Turn 8.
