Deck overview

This mono-black deck runs a specialized engine centered around 23 copies of Shadowborn Apostle and Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker. The primary game plan deploys cheap Apostles during the opening turns, casts Shirei on turn 5, and activates the Apostle ability to cheat Razaketh, the Foulblooded into play. Because Shirei returns all creatures with power 1 or less that died this turn back to the battlefield at the end step, all six sacrificed Apostles return immediately. This provides six free Demonic Tutors on every turn cycle. On turn 6, the deck converts these recurring sacrifices into Treasure mana using Pitiless Plunderer, assembling Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Gray Merchant of Asphodel to drain the entire table in a single turn. Backup lines utilize Thrumming Stone to ripple through the library or Contamination to lock opponents out of non-black mana.
