Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck centers on The Watcher in the Water to convert instant-speed card draw on opponents' turns into an army of 1/1 Tentacle tokens. By playing at instant speed, the deck holds up mana for efficient counterspells like Mana Drain and Counterspell while triggering token production on each player's turn. Once a token army is established, cards like Opposition and Junk Winder transform the tokens into an oppressive board lock, tapping down opponents' lands during their upkeeps and freezing their attackers. The deck closes games via combat damage with wide token swarms and an unstunned 9/9 commander, life loss from Psychosis Crawler, or alternate win conditions like Triskaidekaphile and Laboratory Maniac. Strong card velocity ensures consistent resilience, making this an interactive and controlling force at the table.
