Deck overview

This Sultai Midrange deck is led by Otrimi, the Ever-Playful and centers on the mutate mechanic to build powerful, multi-layered threat stacks. The strategy starts by deploying resilient non-Human host creatures with built-in evasion, hexproof, or deathtouch, such as Slippery Bogle, Venomthrope, and Glissa Sunslayer. By mutating Otrimi, the Ever-Playful and supporting mutate creatures like Auspicious Starrix, Sawtusk Demolisher, and Dirge Bat onto these hosts, the deck generates compounding value, repeatable removal, and rapid board expansion. Card flow is sustained through combat saboteur triggers and graveyard recursion, while alternate engines like Brokkos, Apex of Forever, Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief, and Vesuvan Duplimancy ensure high resilience against single-target interaction. The deck pressures the table through scaling combat damage and commander damage, closing games reliably around Turn 8.
