The Locust God by chisquared

Format: Commander

Commander: The Locust God

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is an Izzet draw-matters deck built around The Locust God, whose entire game plan is to cast the commander and then chain draw spells and looting effects to generate a swarm of hasty, flying Insect tokens that overwhelm the table through combat. The deck leans heavily on "cast your second spell" synergies (Jori En, Ruin Diver, Highspire Bell-Ringer), cost reducers (Mocking Sprite, Naiad of Hidden Coves), and a deep suite of one-shot draw spells (Compulsive Research, Thrill of Possibility, Thirst for Meaning) to keep the token engine fed. Secondary paths include spells-matter payoffs like Murmuring Mystic and Coruscation Mage, plus big-mana finishers in Omniscience, Swarm Intelligence, and Plargg and Nassari. The commander's death trigger returns it to hand, making it unusually sticky, but the deck's success is almost entirely tied to keeping it on the battlefield.
