Deck overview

Shadrix Silverquill leads an Orzhov political deck that blends group-hug incentives, defensive pillowfort taxes, and evasive token swarms. The deck accelerates in the early game using low-cost mana artifacts and land catch-up effects, deploying Shadrix on Turn 4 to generate continuous card advantage and flying Inklings. It protects its life total using attack taxes like Ghostly Prison, Windborn Muse, and Nils, Discipline Enforcer, while redirecting aggression through Combat Calligrapher and Breena, the Demagogue. Offensively, the deck amasses flying tokens buffed by +1/+1 counters from Shadrix and Felidar Retreat. While its board protection and recursion give it resilience against sweepers, the deck deliberately runs almost no targeted removal or stack interaction, relying entirely on deterrents and combat damage to close out games by Turn 9.
