Commander: Ares, God of War

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Helmed by Ares, God of War, this is a Rakdos "attack into death-triggers" attrition deck. Ares must attack each combat, and his ability returns every attacking creature that dies to its owner's hand, which turns combat into a reusable sacrifice engine alongside Goblin Bombardment, Phyrexian Altar, and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. The 99 is built to maximize casualties and force combat with cards like War's Toll, Grand Melee, Kardur, Doomscourge, and Kratos, God of War, while death-payoff permanents such as Blood Artist, Mayhem Devil, Judith, the Scourge Diva, and Syr Konrad, the Grim grind the whole table down. It wins through repeated sacrifice/drain loops and midgame burst turns using Sneak Attack, Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded, and Bloodthirster. There is no compact infinite combo; this is a value/midrange deck that converts combat into mana, cards, and table-wide damage.
