Deck overview

This deck is a classic Simic Merfolk kindred aggro-control deck commanded by Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca. It leverages low-cost Merfolk creatures to establish early board presence and activate Kumena's versatile abilities to draw cards and distribute +1/+1 counters. Untap engines like Merrow Commerce, Murkfiend Liege, and Seedborn Muse allow the deck to generate value and grow threats during every player's turn. The primary path to victory is wide, evasive combat damage enabled by Islandwalk lords like Lord of Atlantis and Master of the Pearl Trident alongside Harbinger of the Seas, or unblockable counters via Herald of Secret Streams. A potent package of free counterspells (Force of Will, Fierce Guardianship, Force of Negation) and protection spells (Heroic Intervention, Veil of Summer) shields the creature engine from opposing disruption while it systematically eliminates opponents over successive combat steps.
