Deck overview

This deck is a Gruul Stompy strategy that pairs rapid creature ramp with heavy anti-spell punishment led by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. The primary game plan spends the early turns developing mana with cheap mana dorks such as Elvish Mystic, Fyndhorn Elves, and Priest of Titania. It transitions into mid-game card advantage engines like Beast Whisperer, Garruk's Uprising, and Toski, Bearer of Secrets. On turns 4 to 5, the deck deploys Ruric Thar, the Unbowed alongside colossal beaters like Ghalta, Primal Hunger, Anzrag, the Quake-Mole, and Ilharg, the Raze-Boar. Ruric Thar deals 6 damage whenever any player casts a noncreature spell, severely punishing opponents who rely on storm lines, noncreature tutors, or board wipes. The deck finishes games by granting trample and mass power buffs via End-Raze Forerunners and Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma, closing the table through lethal combat damage by turn 7.
