Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Esper control deck helmed by Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign. Its strategy centers on manipulating the top card of the library using tools like Sensei's Divining Top, Brainstorm, and Scroll Rack to cheat massive odd-cost spells directly onto the battlefield when Yennett attacks. The deck uses low-cost ramp and defensive pillows like Ghostly Prison and Propaganda to survive the early game, casting Yennett on Turn 4 to attack on Turn 5. Cheating game-warping permanents like Void Winnower, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, and Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant creates oppressive asymmetric board locks that dismantle opposing game plans. While the deck boasts immense value generation and devastating lock pieces, its lack of traditional countermagic and reliance on Yennett connecting in combat create distinct windows for well-timed spot removal and fast combo decks to exploit.
