Deck overview

This Sultai deck helmed by Xavier Sal, Infested Captain blends counter manipulation, snow synergy, and large sea monsters with a dedicated Dark Depths land-combo package. The primary game plan focuses on using versatile land tutors like Crop Rotation, Sylvan Scrying, and Into the North to find Dark Depths alongside counter-removing enablers such as Vampire Hexmage or Thespian's Stage. As early as Turn 4, the deck removes all ice counters to summon the legendary 20/20 flying, indestructible Marit Lage token. Because Marit Lage must eliminate three opponents at 40 life through single-target combat, the clock extends across several turn rotations. In longer games, the deck supports its board with resilient recursion engines like Muldrotha, the Gravetide and Conduit of Worlds, while secondary threats like Spawning Kraken and The Watcher in the Water apply wide board pressure.
