Deck overview

This deck is a Sultai Elf tribal and graveyard combo deck commanded by Thranduil, the Elvenking. It uses efficient green mana dorks to accelerate into graveyard setup spells like Buried Alive and Jarad's Orders. By placing Devoted Druid and Greenhilt Trainee into the graveyard, Thranduil inherits their activated abilities. Because Thranduil's base power is 5, he can repeatedly tap to give himself +4/+4 using Greenhilt Trainee's ability and untap by placing a -1/-1 counter on himself via Devoted Druid's ability. This creates infinite green mana and infinite power on Thranduil and your creatures. The deck translates this infinite resource loop into an immediate same-turn victory by activating Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord's graveyard ability to drain the table, casting a lethal Exsanguinate, or milling all opponents with Whetstone. If the combo plan is obstructed, the deck can pivot into classic Elfball go-wide combat pressure with Tyvar, the Pummeler and Lathril, Blade of the Elves.
